Program Focus

This program is designed for students who are actively pursuing a career as a diesel mechanic/technician. Participants will develop real-world skills in equipment diagnostics, repair, and maintenance, preparing them for long-term success in the heavy equipment and diesel technology field.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with reconditioning and repairing heavy equipment and components
  • Perform diagnostic inspections as directed by lead technicians
  • Maintain accurate records for time, parts, and supplies
  • Care for shop tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Follow all safety and operational procedures

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be actively pursuing a career as a Diesel Mechanic/Technician and be currently enrolled in one of the following programs:

  • Diesel Technology / Heavy Equipment Technology – Primary focus of the program
  • STEM or CTE (Career & Technical Education) programs with a concentration in mechanical, electrical, or equipment-related studies

Other related programs may be considered if the student’s career goal is to become a diesel technician, such as:

  • Automotive-Diesel Service Technician programs
  • Industrial Maintenance
  • Hydraulics
  • Welding & Fabrication
  • Construction Technology
  • Engineering & Robotics
  • Other relevant equipment repair or mechanical training programs

Note: Priority is given to applicants in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, and STEM/CTE programs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, web-based applications)
  • Must provide personal tools
  • Must meet pre-employment screenings (MVR, background check, and drug test)
